Harvesting by the season

Experiences

It’s nice to be able to pick with our own hands the fruits which the earth produces spontaneously.
But there are rules to respect, to protect the environment, the products, and in the respect of the rights of all the “collectors”. For the collection of mushrooms as well as blueberries, for fishing in fresh water, as well as fish and clams in the sea.
Simple rules, licences by a rapid acquisition, thanks to which you are free to contribute, with sustainable use, to the safeguard of our land.

For information on required licences, you can connect via the links below to the relevant pages of the Website of the Agriculture and Natural Resources of the Province of Lucca.

– Fishing
Fishing in fresh water as well as that in the sea are regulated by specific rules and requires the payment of a fee for acquiring an annual, fortnightly or daily licence. A fishing licence is not required for activity in the fishing ponds for a fee, such as at ” la casa del pescatore” in “Isolasanta”, where is sufficient the payment on the spot for a daily permit.

– Mushrooms Collection
Pioppino, chiodino, porcino, galletto… there are many edible mushrooms that grows in our woods. They can be collected during daylight hours, by hand and placed in ventilated containers to allow the spread of spores and then a subsequent recovery.

– Blueberries Collection
For the collection of blueberries there are clear limitations, differentiated according to the place of growth.

– Fishing of clams
Clams harvesting is also under rules. Few rules, to be allowd to enjoy them… light heartedly.

– limit for the collection of asparagus, carnations, snowdrops, holly, primrose, narcissus, ruscolo
Also flowers, asparagus, and wild herbes are protected by a regulation which imposes limits on their collection. Still for the respect and protection of the species.
